Nollywood Actor Aremu Afolayan and brother to veteran Nigerian film actor and award-winning director, Kunle Afolayan has unveiled the hidden face of Nigerian singer Lagbaja as the singer celebrates his birthday.
Aremu Afolayan on a photo he shared on his Instagram page, aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil, had singer Lagbaja in his regular covered face attire and one photo revealing his face.
In a post the actor shared where he wished Lagbaja a happy birthday, Aremu Afolayan wrote: “Happy baiday egbon, unique legend to ngbe legend mi I wish you know how much light your music shines on me. God bless you more egbon Bisade.
Before now, Lagbaja has managed to keep his identity hidden by always wearing a mask, leaving many wondering and guessing the face behind the mask.
The true identity of the Singer has really never been known since the inception of his musical career in early 90’s.
Note Lagbaja’s identity as a masked musician has always been a symbol for the faceless and the voiceless. His music is influenced by traditional Yoruba music and Jazz.
Lagbaja’s real name is Bisade Ologunde. He adopted the name Lagbaja as his stage name which means ‘anonymous’ or ‘faceless one’ in Yoruba.
The Singer released his national acclaim debut album titled “Lagbaja” in 1993, the album was well received and received a lot of airplay all over the country.
Recall that in March 1997, Lagbaja established his club called “Motherlan” in the heart of Ikeja, Lagos State. The club was influenced by the traditional African town or market square, where people gather under the moonlight for ceremonies and artistic events like dance, music and storytelling. He won the Best Male Video for his video “Never Far Away” at the 2006 Channel O Music Video Awards.
Meanwhile, it seemed Aremu Afolayan has pulled down the post as it is no longer on his page.
